“Forgotten Fruits”
Vintage botanical illustration inspired posters.
This was the third and final major project I completed in my Illustration degree. I have always loved this style of poster and so wanted to create some with my own personal twist.
I wanted to base the posters around fruits that aren’t usually thought of or illustrated in this way and so I did some research into ‘forgotten’ fruits. This term is used for fruits that were once widely grown and consumed, but have become less common over time as other varieties have become more popular.
I chose the Quince, Bullace and Persimmon as I liked the variety of visual outcomes this gave as they are all unique in shape and colour.
The posters were created by combining analogue and digital media; I painted each fruit element in gouache and then scanned them in to digitally arrange the posters in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
